Tastings: WineSense Wednesdays
Click the name of any tasting to sign up!
WineSense is Cork & Bottle's series of incredibly informative wine tastings that we started over 7 years ago. We keep each of our seated classes to under 30 people so you can enjoy your wine tasting with some elbow room, stand-up tastings allow for a few more people to show up but we never crowd the room. As always, unless otherwise noted, each tasting is held in our New Orleans store on Wednesdays at 6:30 and last for about an hour or so. For more information please call us at 504.483.6314.
March 10th, Argentina vs. Bordeaux: A Blind Tasting, $20
Even though Argentina has been making wine since the 16th century, only recently has this country entrenched itself into the hearts and minds of North American wine drinkers. Moreover, quite frequently Argentina draws comparison to one of the oldest, most prestigious wine regions in the world: Bordeaux. Join us as Jon leads a tasting of 8 wines, 4 from Bordeaux and 4 from Argentina - all blind - as you learn about how the two regions compare to one another, if the quality in Mendoza matches that of the Medoc and, most important, which one you prefer. It's a great examination of old world versus new world and will definitely be an eye opener. |
March 24 Southern Rhone from 2007: Freaks of Nature, $30
I have yet to meet one person in the wine business from critics to wholesalers to importers to consumers who don't agree whole heartedly the 2007 vintage from the Southern Rhone is one of the single most amazing vintages ever experienced. Now that the marketplace is flush with these wines we thought a tasting was in order. Experience the '07 vintage with 8 wines from the Southern Rhone with wines from importers Peter Weygandt, North Berkeley Selections, Vineyard Brands and Robert Kacher Selections. Ranging from outrageous value Cotes du Rhône to highly pedigreed Chateauneuf-du-Pape and all wines in between, whether or not you're a fan of the Rhone or you have no idea where to begin with Rhone wines this is a tasting you won't want to miss. |

The Fine Print:
- All tastings begin at 6:30 sharp unless otherwise noted.
- All seats must be pre-paid to guarantee a reservation. Because of the limited nature of our tastings we CAN NOT give refunds or rain-checks for same day cancellations. If you must cancel a pre-paid tasting, please do so before close of business the evening before the tasting to obtain a refund or store credit.
- Please refrain from wearing cologne or perfume, if you show up smelling like a Parisian House if Ill Repute you'll be asked to attend another tasting. . . at a different wine store.
- Please respect others and silence your cell-phones and other noise making devices, after all you're at a wine tasting, how important can that call be? If you must take a call we ask that you step away from the table before doing so, but just know we will drink all of your wine while you are gone taking that call. Hope its worth it.
- Unless otherwise noted, we do not serve food at these tastings and we do encourage the "taste and spit" at all WineSense tastings. Although the amount of wine served at WineSense tastings is well within the reasonable amount of wine an adult can and should consume in an hour, please judge your ability to enjoy the tasting while maintaining your faculties. Snack before hand if you feel you need to help soaking up your wine.
- If you have enjoyed your WineSense tasting a bit too much and feel you have reached your limit, we will call United Cab to drive you home. Guests who become inebriated and refuse a taxi will not be allowed to attend future tastings, so please don't be a knucklehead - don't drink and drive.
